All fall down

Flowers on my walk home from work, pretty colour of purple caught my eye.

As some of you may know, my mum is in plaster. She has a spiral fracture and a displacement in her ankle. She had to have a metal plate and rods put it in to stable it.
These flowers above were sent by some of our family. The roses were pretty so I took a couple of quick snap shots. My sister came to visit today and brought some white lilies which haven't opened yet. When they do, I'll take some nice photos

All Lomo app on my phone again. I have taken some on my proper camera, just haven't had time for editing but my new card reader has come so that helps (My last one stopped working one day for no reason)

Film Camera

You may remeber the blog entry i did that showed photos of my Olympus om10 35mm film camera  --> Here.

Well these are photos from said film. I have taken a while getting to grips with the film. Maybe the next one will have more focused photos. I took some during a photo shoot with a model but they were not very good. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy what I'm gonna show you all! :D

The first few are from my last York trip with my lovely friends.

These were taken today at Bramhall Park (yes again, I know lol) My lens has fantastic field of depth, f1.8 which looks amazing.

I've got a slightly different type of film for next time. I had a ISO200 this time which is why the ones in the sunshine came out better. I've got an ISO400 this time. I am still using it in auto and hoping I get more confidence to mess with the settings :D

I have more shots from Bramhall Park on my DSLR. Lots of geese. I'll probs save them for a blog post update during the week :D Fiona xx

Frosty

A cold and somewhat frosty day(mostly de-frosted by the time we went out lol) today but a good day for a walk.

We went to Happy Valley and had a good 2 hour walk, cutting through Bramhall Park on the way back home. None of these photos are from Bramhall Park though, for a change.

It was a good walk, I spent most of it talking to my dad about my life. Well, what I'm going to do about my life this year. There isn't something specific that I am good at. I like lots of things: Photography, Writing, Drawing and Illustration. So the plan is to push forward with them, enter competitions for photography and writing. Use contacts to get involve with people who might be able to offer me advice about doing Children's picture books. Do more work in all these areas.

I was thinking about going back to college but Stockport College are useless in getting back in contact with me and it was only an A level. I could do a Nation Diploma Level 3 part time but its in Didsbury at Manchester college's campus. But! I still don't know If I want my career to be photography. The problem I have is a lot of people can do what I can and I need to push myself out there. Show myself to people and make contacts.

There might be some promise for next year but I have to start now to push forward this year. I'm going to work hard on Cross and Pike, and create the children's picture books I want to make even if its just to see if I can. I want to take as many photos and improve as much as possible on my own.

I dunno when the next lot of photos will be up, got a lot to think about and need to split my time between everything. I do hope to organise some shoots soon

Read my round up of 2011

I wrote a blog post of the last 12 months here: Visit my other blog to view the post

I'm hoping in the new year I will be able to do more photography, we'll have to wait and see what happens.

In the meantime, have a photo of what my Fiancee and I ate for dinner on New Years Day :D A big Roast :D most likely enough for 3 or 4 people

Phone picture as per usual, sorry!

Edit: Also, thinking about doing posts about some of my favourite but unknown photographers that I see on Deviantart.com and around the internet. What do you all think?

From Sheffield to home

A bunch of semi-recent photos. Some from my Camera and some from my phone, so sorry for the bad quality!

Capturing the fog as I left Sheffield and was sat on the train home. At one point I couldn't see anything except the bit of track next to the train.

My lovely cat being silly. He loves to play and this is like a hiding place for him. I find it amusing that you can't see his eyes either.

This just made me laugh SO much. The Nerd in me, anyways. Operation GOTHAM. Sorry, is Stockport waiting for Batman to save the day? I just found it so funny.

Trying to capture the sheer amount of rain falling in Stockport. Failed because again this was on my phone. You can see how the ground is though!

This! OMG this! I saw this and I nearly let out a squee like a small child! You put money on the fish plate and when the cat thinks your not looking, it'll swipe it into the box. It's just too cute

My current list of books to read. Click on the image to go to my blog that talks about books!

Sorry for lack of photos but I'm hoping to take my camera to Sheffield next time I go (I know I said that last time but I WILL this time)

Take a walk on the wild side

Well, not really the wild side, it was Lyme Park.

Yes, I have photographs! Only been nearly a month since I got the chance to. My parents decided to go for a walk and I went with them along with my camera. I still need to use up my film camera but not sure what to take photos of for that.

I was trying for ages to get a photo of the light coming through the clouds and I like how this one turned out

Not many photos because I wanted to keep up and the light wasn't great so a lot of them came out blurred anyway. Not my best photos either but these are just a selection from the 60 I took.

I hopefully will have 2 photos shoots with models in the new year as I don't really have time right now. I need to time to find a new place to shoot photos too.

Take care everyone and hopefully i'll come back with some more photos in December.

I remember them

Hello!
I know, I've been missing for a while from my blog. I have no real excuse other than I haven't been taking photographs lately. I have a bit more time off now so hopefully I'll get to take some more soon!

I went on a day trip to York yesterday (already feels like ages ago) to see my much missed friends from uni. I had forgotten just how much I missed them and to be honest I found it very hard not to cry when I was going to leave.

So here is a blog post post with some of my favourite photos from the trip :D

Ryan also had his camera and was playing with lens flares so I had a go too!

I love colours of leaves and these trees had such amazing colours when the sunlight hit. Seriously, me in parks with a camera, I could spend hours there!

I'm really impressed with how this photo came out. The squirrels were very tame and we managed to get quite close.

I hope you enjoy!

Going Backwards

As I gave you all 2 posts already last week and as the weekend post is late, I though I would look back on how far I've come in photography thus far.
Also I don't think there will be any post during the week as I don't have any photo shoot plans till Friday (and that might have to be moved if I get this job at Waterstones.)

So 25th December 2010, I got my GE X5 Bridge Camera. It needed 4 AA batteries to work and weighed what felt like a ton. That is where my photography started though.

You can already tell I had an interest in Macro (but I couldn't get anything like lens for the bridge camera) I took photos of everything that interested me. (I still do!)

This was when I started to look at setting up photographs more (well not this the top one, that was random find in a park) As my GE camera claimed to have a manual mode (which it didn't) I tried to use that but it was no different from using the regular modes! I also started playing with photoshop on Photographs early on.

I tried playing with long exposures somewhat on my GE and it kind of worked but was very annoying. The photographs at this stage aren't something I'm proud of any more but I really was at the time.

So. The end of May came along and I bought my Nikon D3000. I was like a kid in a toy shop, shooting photos of everyone and everything. I had ordered my macro filter pretty much right away knowing that I would use it a lot.

This whole time I have had a major interest in flowers and I think I always will. They are things I always enjoy looking at

And then my Macro arrived! the best thing I have ever bought.

These are still some of my fave photos, even before I learnt to use my Manual mode for real. I like flowers and colours and the beach was something new for me. I did feel rather silly sitting on the beach with a camera and a bunch of objects when it was so bloody windy!

At this point I was back home and trying to set up photos again. I wanted to limit the amount of editing I did. Or at Least make it nicer rather than boom! In your face.

And then I did my shoot with Charlotte. That really boosted my confidence to go and try and find more people to do photo shoots with (I know have 3 lined up with different models and some more still being arranged) I know I over edited some of these photos but at the time I was over exposing them anyway!

Then I did my photography course. I feel now that I understand how my camera works better and I am much more confident in using it!

I hope you can all see where I started and what I'm able to do now. I'm going to invest in a new lens soon when I have the money for it.
Till next week! (most likely)
